Privacy Policy

1. The short version

We do not run accounts, we do not have a database, and we do not use analytics. This site is a set of static pages and calculators. The only personal information we ever hold is an email you chose to send us. Our advertising partner, Google, does set cookies, and section 5 explains exactly what that involves and how to refuse it.

2. Information we collect

Directly from you, only if you email us. This site has no server that receives form submissions. The contact form opens your own email application with your message prefilled, so anything you send reaches us as an ordinary email that you send yourself. In that case we hold your name, your email address, and whatever you chose to write, in our mailbox.

Automatically, by our hosting provider. Our host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, timestamps, the page requested, and browser user-agent strings. These are generated by the act of serving a web page and are used for security and troubleshooting.

By our advertising partner. Google collects data through the advertising cookies and identifiers described in section 5. That collection is Google's, governed by Google's own privacy policy, and we do not receive or store it.

3. How we use it

We use what you email us to answer you, and to correct or improve the articles you write to us about. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list — we do not operate one.

4. Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies of our own, and we run no analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, and no third-party measurement script on this site.

The one thing we store in your browser is your light or dark theme preference, kept in local storage on your device so the site does not show you the wrong theme on your next visit. It is not a cookie, it is never transmitted anywhere, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

Cookies set by Google for advertising are covered in the next section. Those are the only cookies this site causes to be set.

5. Advertising and third-party vendors

This site is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-3297192294536743) to serve ads. The following disclosures are made in line with Google's requirements for publishers:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• If you would rather not have any vendor use cookies for personalised advertising, you can opt out of many of them at once at aboutads.info, the Network Advertising Initiative, or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Who receives your data. The party we engage is Google (Google Ireland Limited for users in Europe, Google LLC elsewhere), whose handling of it is described in the Google privacy & terms page for partner sites. Google may in turn share data with advertising partners who bid to show you an ad. We do not choose those partners individually. Where a consent message is shown (section 6), it lists every vendor by name and lets you accept or refuse them individually before anything is set.

We do not receive any of it. We have no access to the identifiers, profiles, or browsing history used to select an ad. We see only aggregate earnings reports inside our AdSense account.

6. Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent message is presented before any advertising cookie is set or any personal data is used to personalise ads. You can accept, refuse, or make choices vendor by vendor. Refusing is a real option: you can continue to use every part of this site, and you may be shown non-personalised ads instead, which are based on the page you are reading rather than on who you are.

How to change or withdraw your consent. Your choice is recorded so you are not asked repeatedly. To revisit it:

• Clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings, then reload the page. The consent message will appear again and your previous choice is discarded.
• Or change your personalisation setting directly with Google at My Ad Center, which applies wherever Google serves you ads, not just here.

Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already happened while consent was in place, and it does not affect the server logs described in section 2, which we keep on the separate legal basis of operating the site securely.

7. What the calculators do not do

Our loan, budget, currency, and investment tools run entirely in your browser. The figures you type — balances, incomes, rates — are never transmitted to us and never stored on any server. They exist only in the page in front of you and disappear when you close the tab. The currency converter is the one exception in that it requests published exchange rates from an external service, but it sends only the request for those rates and none of your amounts.

8. Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Retention and security

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of any correction it prompted, then delete it. Server logs are retained by our host on their own schedule. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to a data protection regulator. Because the only personal information we hold is email you chose to send us, exercising these rights is usually as simple as writing to the address in section 12 and telling us what you want done.

For the advertising data held by Google rather than by us, use the Google and industry controls linked in sections 5 and 6, which reach it directly.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will be summarised here rather than slipped in silently.
